C- Complaining and Comparison are two monsters of life. Beware!

“When you complain, you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation, or accept it. All else is madness.” Eckhart Tolle

I remember when I was a little girl, I hardly used to complain about things. Why? Because for me life was very simple, study, do homework and play. That was my goal back then. And life was truely amazing then.

But growing up is a mess, a complete disaster. Especially in this era where everything we do, everything we eat, every where we go is all put up on social media. It becomes a natural instinct to complain and compare our lives with others.

But lately I realized that we all are just being stupid. Why are we complaining and comparing our lives with others constantly? Why are we letting social media fool us? The people who post amazing food pictures may be the ones who are suffering a lot in their lives, but are pretending to be happy or maybe healing themselves with that amazing plate of french fries because I am a foodie and I know food heals! (it does to some extent. Don’t judge me.)

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”- Theodore Roosevelt

Maybe the person who is having an amazing time at a foreign destination has had his share of going through a lot, have been through his rough days, have worked harder and have given up his sleep and social life, worked hard to be where he is today. So he deserves to enjoy the pleasure of all the sacrifice and compromise he has made.

Whatever we see on social media is either a lie, or is either partly truth. So that does not mean we constantly going to complain and compare our lives with others and get depressed and make our self feel less than others.

You have been given one life, be great full because there are so many people wanting to live a little more, but are fighting between time and end of life. There are so many people who are not even blessed with good food, clothing and shelter here you have everything. If seeing someone having the time of their life is making you feel low and complain that you don’t have it, then throw that damn phone away, get your ass to work harder and go chase your dreams and earn money to live that kind of life, order that kind of food and have all those luxuries you want to have.

There is this line in one of my favorite books, “Life is not a wish granting factory.”

No super-hero, no fairy, no genie is coming to make your wishes and dreams come true. You have to do it on your own. You have to look at the positive side of everything. Like if you don’t have a computer, make things work from your phone, if you don’t have friends, be it, learn to enjoy your company, learn to see that I can use all my time to do things I love to do. If you can’t order food from outside and have the luxury to eat that delicious food, watch a recipe video on your favourite snack and cook it. There is always a way to come out of darkness.

“If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it.” Anthony J. D’Angelo

There is always a way to enjoy the little things in life and be grateful for it. Everyone on this planet earth is going through something you are not aware about. So don’t compare your life with someone else. You know nothing about their struggle because some people just choose to show you the bright side of their lives, and not the dark side. Some people just keep their struggles and pain within themselves. So never compare your life, everyone around us is having a different journey and purpose in life. No ones life is similar. So why compare?

Complain less about your problems. In fact, every problem is like a blessing, it always has something to teach you in return. It always will leave a gift behind, so embrace every problem and try to see what new change, new lessons it is bringing in your life.

Remember, complaining and comparison are the two evil monsters of our life, don’t let it ruin your peace of mind and play with your emotions. Live your life with a positive attitude and always look at the bright side.
