It’s the 9th month of the year 2020, and I in all have read 10 books. These could also be some good books that you may too find interesting to read. In this blog posts, I am going to talk about all these 10 books and which ones are a must-read for you all
When it comes to reading I have so much guilt inside me that I can’t even fathom out how to describe it.
Since the year 2019, I have had phases of reader’s block, days and weeks went by without reading a word, wanted to read books that I don’t even own, and was not really into whatever I was reading.

Perhaps, somehow I did manage to buckle up myself in the year 2020 and reading as much as I can between my artwork and mood swings, plus the pandemic has given me a different kind of mood swing where I have loads to do, I am looking forward to doing it however end up lazing around.

In this blog post, I will only give a short summary of the books I have read and what I feel about them. This is not a review blog post.
This year I am also trying multiple books reading together. That is I read more than one book at a time. My current reads are, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, ‘The Best of- Speaking tree‘ volume one, and ‘The Inner Courtyard’- Stories By Indian Women
The first book I am going to talk about is the book that helped me cure my reading block.
The Blue Umbrella- By Ruskin Bond
This is a short story about poor girl Binya who while herding her cows encounter a family who was having a picnic. Binya is mesmerized by an umbrella owned by the family which she exchanges for her charm pendant. The whole village is then charmed by this beautiful umbrella. The envious eyes of the shopkeeper fall on the umbrella whose greed of getting a hold on the umbrella only makes him pay a heavy price. Perhaps, Binya being kind, forgive, and end up making a sacrifice.

I feel this book is a must-read even for kids and every adult. Being a literature student I have known quite about Ruskin Bond but had never read his works before. After this book, I wish to own all of his work collection and read more.
If you wish to start reading books or need some good books for your kids then go for this one, you can buy the book here
I haven’t read Salman Rushdie’s works too and wish to explore his works as well. Any recommendations please leave them in the comments below.
The Diary of A Young Girl- Anne Frank
Honestly, this book made me ponder on quite a lot of things. The fact that I finished this book just before Corona VIRUS became worse in India and we faced the complete lockdown. While we all were locked in the comfort of our home, with no maids around and the constant workload putting on more pressure

The complaints I was reading on tweets and throughout social media, only made me think if only those people would read Anne Frank’s book they would understand that we were still in the best conditions than her.
I don’t think of all the misery, but of all the beauty that still remains.
Anne Frank, The Diary of a young Girl
The other thing that amazed me was even in those life-threatening condition she happened to journal her thoughts and sometimes the positivity in her writing, the hope she had even in darkness I was really amazed while reading this book. Perhaps, I may re-read this book again by next year or sooner than that. Hopefully.
A must-read book to help you get closure with the current pandemic situation and also to get a close look of the times when Hitler was ruling and how it costed life to so many, you can buy this book here
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
Some may find this absurd but yes, I am reading the Harry Potter series and it’s my first time. I have watched the movies ample time and I am a true Potterhead.
I am aware of the new fuss going around the J.K Rowling and her opinionated tweets on the trans community.

Understanding is the first step to acceptance and only with acceptance can there be recovery.
J.K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
But let’s keep the books especially Harry Potter out of this.
When it came to this Goblet movie, I did not quite like it but this book was different. I don’t really need to go in-depth when it comes to Harry Potter, but my favorite one till now among the 4 books I have read and the 5th one currently reading is still the first book. When it comes to movies, I loved the 3rd and the last two one’s the most.
Which is your favorite book among the Harry Potter series?

To Kill A Mocking Bird

I have already reviewed this book on my blog and you can read it here.
You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.
Harper Lee, To kill a Mockingbird.
This book is one of my favorites now and I am planning to read it again soon. I have so many books that I wish to re-visit… I just hope I somehow manage to re-read this book soon.
Everyone must read this book once in their lifetime, especially to all parents this is a must-read book. You can buy this book here
Sidney Sheldon’s The Silent Window -Tilly Bagshawe
The first time I came across Sidney Sheldon’s work was last year through her book “Tell me your dreams” and I absolutely loved it. Have you read it?

The Silent Window also happened to win my heart but somehow while reading it did not keep me as hooked as Tell me your dreams did. Obviously, the authors are different so I wouldn’t like to compare.
While money couldn’t always buy you happiness, a lack of money always brought anguish
Tilly Bagshawe, The Silent Window.
At first, you won’t find it as intriguing, it will somehow put you in dilemma should you put the book down, but don’t. Read a bit more and slowly the story takes its pace.
I wish to read more of both Sidney Sheldon’s original work as well as Tilly Bagshawe’s works as well as more mystery genre books.
If anyone has recommendations please leave them below in the comment box. I really am looking forward to reading more of mysterious genre books.

You too can buy this book from here if you are in need of motivation and re-building your life…
It’s not what we do that makes us tired- it’s what we don’t do. The tasks we don’t complete cause the most fatigue.
Steve Chandler – 10 WAYS TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF.
This year honestly, has been really the worse one but also it is a year where I am learning quite a lot. There are times in life when you are aware of what you want but somehow you are still lost… This book had some really good insights and tips to help you find your way back and re-build your life.
Ringa Ringa Roses- By Neil D’Silva
I have reviewed this book and you will find a complete review here.

Neil D’Silva
It is an e-book consisting of 3 short stories revolving around the theme of how if sometimes kids are not given proper care and attention might disrupt their mind. The short stories consist of mysterious and horror elements but the best part about this book is the writing style of the author and how much I loved the fact and insights that the author gave about the famous rhyme Ringa Ringa Roses.
My favorite among the three is the last one ‘Two-tail’ which kept me quite intrigued.
This is an e-book available at a really affordable price and you can buy it from here
One Girl Many Lives:
One of my favorites of this year is this book. It has my heart. The book is written by 5 writers on a single theme. The book cover itself is the theme in all the 5 stories. The detailed review of this book can be read here

My favorite one among all five short stories is ‘The Runaway Princess’ for the reason that the ending gives you an insight that sometimes not all princess need a prince for a rescue… 😀
A must-read book and I highly suggest grabbing this e-book as soon as possible. It won’t even burn your pockets much and you will surely enjoy this book.
Sofia on The Balcony-Himanshu Goel
This book was introduced to me through Instagram advertisements. Lol! I came across this book and it said a flash reading, by which I understood it must be a short story and I can give it a look.
So I immediately downloaded it and read.

I simply loved the story, the writing style of the author is amazing, and the fact that you won’t be able to make out how the twist of the plot will occur.
Being a painter/artist and a writer in both ways I could relate to the plot. I wish I had a teacher like Stanzin. The story is about a painter who is quite famous perhaps has met a roadblock which he is unable to pass by.
“The mind of an artist controls logic, it teaches him how to hold the brush, how to mix the paint, but nothing more… The heart controls the emotions, it teaches him how to feel, how to make others feel by his work. But most important is the soul. The soul is the reason we exist, the source of life. The soul of an artist gives life to any art.”
Himanshu Goel – Sofia on the Balcony.
Somehow the teacher who influenced him, taught him came to his rescue only to know the reason behind her student’s dilemma and help him fight through his inner demons to get the artist back on track… Perhaps, it’s not that easy…

Becoming- Michelle Obama

This book took most of my time. I am too slow while reading non-fiction especially biographies.
“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”
― Michelle Obama, Becoming
I take it slow because the messages non-fiction and biographies tend to send out are sometimes deep and heavy. I take my time to sink them in.
This book is really amazing and everyone must read this book at least once. I feel women who feel helpless and lost should read this once, it won’t solve your problems, but it will definitely help you find some motivation to get through the storm.
Get this book here and learn some amazing lessons that will help you in your own life journey.
If you have read any of these books and would like to share your thoughts on them please leave them in the comments below. Would love to read them and get to know new perspectives…
